Hiding

One starts counting,
and the rest scatter

Through the room
underground

The other slides beneath

Another slips away

The third panics
Nowhere to go

But she is the one
They will never find

Debra Renée Byrd: Deborah Hawkins, penned Debra Renée Byrd, began writing after a blank book project in elementary school and never stopped, fashioning stories based on her favorite TV shows and movies before creating more original works.
