A to Z Challenge: the Fayth from Final Fantasy X

Press play, and enjoy (especially about 7 minutes in).

We are on the 6th day of the A to Z Challenge, and I have chosen to ramble on about my favorite characters in my favorite gaming franchise, Final Fantasy.

If you pressed play, you are currently listening to the Hymn of the Fayth. Because today's letter is F.

The Fayth are the true backbone of the land of Spira in Final Fantasy X. Not only are they powering the aeons that we summon, but they are the ones holding up the Dream Zanarkand. Speaking of which (and I'm certainly not making you watch all 8 minutes of this, just up to the reveal of the magic tower), here's what that looks like:

If you actually did watch all of that (you're awesome, because even I didn't), the little boy guiding Tidus is Bahamut's Fayth, the aeon from the letter B! This game has one of the sadder backstories of the Final Fantasy games, as the Fayth are all basically dead and have been using their own life forces for a thousand years to help the summoners of Spira and for the dream Zanarkand (their home) to keep going.

I've played this game three times, and the hymn makes me want to play it again.

Honorable Mention for F:

Fran from Final Fantasy XII is someone I plan to cosplay when I have--ahem--abs. A viera warrior and love interest of Balthier, she is the one of the only good things about that game. Her last words in the game are hilarious.

Tomorrow, we return to summons while I talk to you about Gilgamesh.

A to Z Challenge: Writing Colors - Fuchsia

Hello again! Happy Tuesday, Happy A to Z Challenge Day!

This year, I am providing different colors for descriptive purposes in writing using the website Color-ize to look at an alphabetical list of colors that we can use instead of using the same basic colors we know off the top of our heads. One color can come in so many shades, so why not take a look at them? :)

Today's color is: Fuchsia

My mom is the queen of knowing random trivia no one else does. This color (which goes after purple in my ROYGBIV closet) gets its name from the fuchsia flower named after the German botanist Leonhart Fuchs. While hurting my eyes here, on fabric it's a beautiful color, especially on silk or satin, or on a sari. It especially pairs well with bright blues. So, if you're looking for a different word to use other than pink, try fuchsia!

F is for Friends Who Do Stuff Together...

Today's letter is F!

I really do have great friends, and on a busy week like this, it means a lot to do stuff with them. I acquired most of the ones I have now through the young adult choir at my church, but then there are ones I grew up with, my sister and cousin from the A and C entries. We go through a lot as young Christians, and there isn't anything better than having other young Christians there for encouragement, prayer, good times, bad times, fun and silliness. As a choir, we've been together for I think 4 years now, and I know nothing's going to separate us, especially when we have the love of God.

I also got to go up to Elkins Park (Philly) to celebrate my childhood best friend's mother's 60th birthday! I hadn't seen them since my friend's Bat Mitvah, so it was so great to see her again, and her little sister who was a very weird little kid but has blossomed into a young woman! My older sister used to babysit them, and she attributes part of her growing up to their mom. I feel like we were at their house every day. lol Though it's clear none of us have changed much (we're still awkward homebodies, even though she's living in Philly, and I still long to go back), we're going to try to meet up more often. 15 years is just way too long. I also got to meet her best friend from after we all moved away, and she is so great and funny! We all gelled very nicely.

I'm not one to keep many real friends around, so when I get some, I try to treasure them forever. I hope you all do, too!
